CS373 Fall 2020: Alexy Correa

What did you do this past week?

This past week, my group and I started working on Phase 3 of the project. Since I am on the backend side of things, we decided to change the way we search things to become more accurate and efficient. I am also in charge of making the unittesting for the python code, so that is not too hard.

What’s in your way?

I have too much homework that I have no time to do anything. I am running behind on my CS439 project because I do not understand it, even with office hours. I still need to keep helping my backend team for this project.

What will you do next week?

I will start finishing off Phase 3 of our project with my group. I will also have to do a lot of homework for the other classes that I will not have time to sleep a lot. Just me and my dear old friend: Stress.

If you read it, what did you think of The Interface Segregation Principle?

I have not read it yet.

What was your experience of instance methods, class methods, static methods, regular expressions, and relational algebra?

I kinda get the idea of static methods because of Java, but class methods are a new concept for me because I still don’t fully understand Python completely yet and also it takes me a while to fully understand new things. I need to practice on that. When it comes to regular expressions, I have experience using them back in high school, so that was a nice refresher and it will totally help in this phase.For relational algebra, that seemed pretty easy for me, so that should not be too much trouble.

What made you happy this week?

A thing that made me happy today is that my brother visited me yesterday from San Antonio so that we could go vote together, but we found out that you can only vote in the county you registered yourself to vote.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

A tip-of-the-week is to find something to distract you for at least 5–10 minutes because majority of us are at high stress right now, so we need to do something that will make us relax for a bit and come back with a fresh mind.
