1. What did you do this past week?

This past week, I met with my group to start on the final phase of the project. We finished the user stories quickly so that we can focus on fixing our website. I also finished with the the final individual project for CS439, which is relieving since that class produced 70% of my daily stress since the beginning of the semester. I also had enough time to do my homework from all my classes early, since I usually have to stay up late to finish.

2. What’s in your way?

Just all the homework and all the projects from all of my classes. I have a lot of homework that I have to do and have reached the time of the semester where I am just doing projects. It is time consuming. I also have to go to office hours with my team because there were some complications during the grading of our website.

3. What will you do next week?

I am going to be working with my group so that we clean up our website to make it more consistent. I am on the backend side, so I to make some changes into our database to return search results faster. I also need to do an oral presentation skit for my Chinese class, which is also my final oral grade, so it’s worth more points.

4. If you read it, what did you think of The New Methodology?

Everything that the paper was talking about made complete sense. We need to plan things ahead so that we know exactly what to do and what will be our strategy in doing things. It also helps us be constantly active in projects so that everyone knows what is going on and that everyone is on the same page.

5. What was your experience of SQL? (this question will vary, week to week)

My experience with SQL is by doing mySQL before. mySQL requires you to know the SQL language in order to use it. I worked with mySQL in high school because my Computer Science teacher was Oracle certified in mySQL. So, because of her, the school payed for our Oracle Academy courses, and I am technically Oracle Academy mySQL certified, but forgot everything. In my opinion, it was easy, but too long to learn.

6. What made you happy this week?

I went back home to celebrate my mother’s birthday. I bought her a Michael Kors bag since that is her favorite brand. I also had a lot of free time this week, which is usually rare. I finally started watching season 5 of Lucifer since this whole semester has been so time consuming.

7. What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick-of-the-week is to clean your computer from unnecessary applications, files, unused tabs that are open, and from viruses. Some of our computers are kind of old and heavily used, so they don’t handle tasks as they used to and have become quite slow. So, close any apps or tabs that you are not using, delete some things that are no longer being used, check what things are hogging up the CPU or taking too much memory. Sometimes shutting down the computer and turning it back on helps.
