CS371p Fall 2021: Alexy Correa

What did you do this past week?

What I did this week was studying for a midterm that I had on Wednesday, trying to finish my project for Concurrency involving CUDA, and also finishing and submitting the Allocator project with my partner. I also jumped along the hype train and started watching Squid Game. After the first episode, I was hooked.

What’s in your way?

Currently what is in my way is that I have 2 exams for the same class on Wednesday and Friday. I also need to finish on my report for the Concurrency lab. I also have to memorize the whole world map and the locations of countries, lakes, oceans, cities, capitals, etc.. for a Geography test on Tuesday. I also need to work on my group for the app that we are developing for iOS. I am currently in charge of developing the settings screen for the Beta Version.

What will you do next week?

What I will do next week is go to class, as usual. I also need to start on my next Concurrency project using Rust. I also need to study for the upcoming test for this week. I also want to finish every episode of Squid Game because I really want to know what happens next.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #8: Interface Segregation Principle?

I still have not read this week’s paper, yet.

What was your experience of algorithms and iterators? (this question will vary, week to week)

I do have experience with algorithms and iterators. But I have mostly used them in Java when I use a HashMap and get a HashSet of all the keys and then use it in an enhanced for loop. What we have covered in class really showed me what happens under the hood when we want to iterate over a data structure.

What made you happy this week?

What made me happy this week was that I was able to get food from my favorite food truck behind the CO-OP one last time before they are required to move. I also went to Teapioca Lounge and bought a 44oz boba. It was so much sugar that I consumed, but it was worth it. I’ll be doing it again next week, especially since I recently received a $30 gift card.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

If you use Visual Studio, you might have experienced that sometimes it takes a long time to open up or finish loading. This is because there are currently many plugins installed. So the solution is to uninstall them and only use the plugins that you need.
