Where did you grow up?

I was born in Mexico but my family moved to Texas when I was 2 years old. We first lived in San Antonio for a couple of months, then moved further south to Hidalgo, Texas until the age of 7, and then move to what would be considered home in Mcallen, Texas.

What high school did you attend?

I attended Hidalgo Early College High School in Hidalgo, Texas.

What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

My favorite extracurricular activity in high school would be UIL Computer Science. I was on the team for all 4 years of high school. I would dedicate all my free time to the activity that it made me a state qualifier.

Why did you come to UT?

It was close to home (more like a 4.5 hour drive), it was a well known school and had automatic acceptance.

Why are you majoring in CS?

Since I loved doing CS for all of my high school years and was really good at it, I decided to give it a shot. Also because I was also getting reality checks as a 10th grader for some reason on what my profession should be, and CS was a safe bet.

Why are you in this class?

To learn more about OOP so that I can become an expert on it and can help me later on with future jobs.

What are your expectations of this class?

I would expect a lot of work, but not too hard. I also expect for this class to teach me everything needed to know about OOP and how we can become better programmers.

How much C/C++ do you already know?

I only know the C/C++ that I learned and needed to use for Architecture, OS, and Compilers. I don’t know anything else beyond that. I still don’t know how to make a C/C++ from scratch since all the files were given to us.

How did you like the first lectures?

I like the first lectures since it went over the syllabus, the way the grading system for this class is going to be, and how the quizzes are going to be from now on.

How did you feel about the cold calling?

I never liked cold calling, even when I was with Dr. Downing’s SWE class. They do make the class more interactive, but I don’t like talking in front of class. Even though this is coming from an introvert’s perspective.

What made you happy this week?

I got to visit my best friend in Bryan, Texas (Aggies, boo!), and had a 44oz Jasmine Green tea with Honey and Lemon from Teapioca Lounge.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Start early on practicing for interviews on Leetcode since your school workload is going to increase drastically and won’t have time to practice and will not be ready.
