CS371p Fall 2021: Alexy Correa

What did you do this past week?

What I did this past week was to first focus on my project for iOS with my team members, then GPU programming using CUDA for my concurrency project, and finally work on the Allocator project with my partner.

What’s in your way?

What is currently in my way is that I have multiple projects for all my 3 CS classes that it’s hard to prioritize between each other. I also have a midterm this upcoming week that I am not looking forward to. Also, my partner and I need to finish the allocator program in order to run it on Hackerrank.

What will you do next week?

What I will do next week is first focus on my midterm. Afterwards my partner and I will try to finish the Allocator program by the end of the week so that we can relax and no longer have to worry about it. I also need to learn how to use CUDA since it seems really complex.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #8: Liskov Substitution Principle?

I still have not read the Liskov Substitution Principle.

What was your experience of arrays and allocator? (this question will vary, week to week)

I now fully understand how arrays in C++ work. It seems that there are many ways to initialize an array in C++. It was a bit confusing at first, but Dr. Downing’s explanation really helped. I have never had any experience with allocators before, but by the way that thing look and how we are supposed to implement the project, it looks like we are implementing a heap.

What made you happy this week?

What made me happy this week was that my parents came to visit me from the Rio Grande Valley. My mom stocked up my entire fridge and made a lot of food for me to last me the whole week. I also got to eat at my favorite food truck that’t behind the CO-OP, but sadly the food court is being shut down, and this upcoming Sunday is the last day of operation.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is to close down any unnecessary tabs in your browser so that your computer can run faster, especially if you have an older computer. I’m the type of person who has tons of youtube videos open because I told myself that I would watch them later, but never do. The same goes for unused applications.
