What did you do this past week?
This past week I spent my time studying for midterms this upcoming week, finishes projects for other CS classes early, and started to practice for interviews on LeetCode. I still have not applied to any internships yet because I want to be prepared with coding questions when the time comes.
What’s in your way?
I have a midterm and a foreign language oral exam on the same day this upcoming Wednesday. I also have to finish the report section of my Concurrency class. The anxiety of not having practiced much on coding questions for internships is creeping up on me.
What will you do next week?
I have to do midterms, turn in a lot of homework, do a ton of reading, and also practice more coding questions. I have a pretty busy upcoming week. But once all of that is finished, at the end of the week I am going to treat myself with a 44 oz boba from Teapioca Lounge.
If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #4: What Happens to Us?
It is a terrible thing that harassment during work is still allowed. Harassment can come in all shapes and forms. We should learn not to keep quiet, but to stand up and report it. We need to be the next generation in which everyone can feel comfortable not only in the workplace, but also in places where we feel mistreated.
What was your experience of Collatz, exceptions, and strcmp? (this question will vary, week to week)
For Collatz, my Hackerrank passed all three tests and doing the repo portion was also easy, mostly because I have taken SWE last fall and the first project was also Collatz but in Python. So, I already knew the drill. For exceptions, I only knew the basics in Java, but hardly ever used them. This week’s lecture helped me become more immersed on the topic. For strcmp, I have used it a few times, and the exercise with my group helped me get a sense on how it works.
What made you happy this week?
I went to eat Korean BBQ with my girlfriend on Friday and it was delicious. At the same time, we ordered too much meat. So, we had to cook it and bring it home for leftovers, which I ate 3 hours later.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
I would recommend LeetCode’s Interview Assessments. It gives you a mock interview which gives you random coding questions and times you on them. It has assessments for Facebook, Google, Amazon, and other companies. It also has options as Online Assessment, Phone Interview, and Onsite Interview. Just as a real interview.
