CS 371p Fall 2021: Alexy Correa

What did you do this past week?

What I did this week was to catch up on other projects from other classes since I was practicing for an interview that happened this past Wednesday. I also was overwhelmed with the amount of homework that one of my classes assigned, so I also had to get started with that. I also started a bit on the Darwin project, still not sure if I should go solo or find a partner.

What’s in your way?

What is currently in my way is the Darwin project, since not having any sort of starter code is difficult. Another thing that is in my way is my Concurrency project which has to be done in Rust. Almost took me the 2 weeks that the project was assigned for to realize that I was doing the beginning of it wrong. I also have to practice for more interviews.

What will you do next week?

What I will do next week is catch up on the weekly project for iOS, study for a midterm happening this upcoming Wednesday. I also need to catch up with the Darwin program. After that, I need to practice on leetcode for interviews, study for a presentation that I have to give in a foreign language, and find a partner for a final project for my Concurrency class.

If you read it, what did you think of the Paper #11: Getters and Setters?

I did not read this week’s paper.

What was your experience of vector? (this question will vary, week to week)

I have used vectors before, but it was nice to know what happens under the hood. With the lectures about vectors really helped my group and I finish the exercise fast without any problems.

What made you happy this week?

Something that made me happy this week was that I was able to advance to the next round of the interview process. Now I will be heading onto the onsite interviews, which are going to be remote.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is to review any CS fundamentals. The reason why is because there might be some interviews that test you about these topics. All of us are just used to doing coding problems in our interviews, not expecting to be asked questions like “Describe Polymorphism” or “What is the difference between & and &&?”. Also brush up on previous projects because you might be asked about them.
